How we pick topics, verify facts, and structure materials

What we publish

The VietSmart news and analytics section covers business in Vietnam: marketplaces (Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Tiki), regulation, certification, logistics, trade with Russia and EAEU, payment infrastructure changes. We write for Russian and international entrepreneurs entering Vietnam, and for brands already operating there.

Sources

Every news item is grounded in at least one primary source: official announcements, Vietnamese business media (VnExpress, VnEconomy, Viet Nam News), marketplace data, sector studies. The source link is included in the body of the material and in schema.org structured data (isBasedOn / citation).

Fact-checking

Numbers, dates, and legal wording are verified against the primary source by at least one VietSmart editor. If a fact cannot be confirmed, we either omit it or flag it explicitly. We do not use unverified rumours and do not attribute statements to sources that did not make them.

Expert commentary

Every news item includes a "What this means for business" section with practical takeaways β€” this block reflects the VietSmart team’s view based on daily work with the market and is explicitly separated from the factual part.

Conflict of interest

If material concerns a company or product VietSmart has a commercial relationship with, this is disclosed at the start or end of the article. Sponsored content is labelled clearly.

What we do NOT publish

We do not publish translated rewrites without added expert value. We do not publish material without a verifiable primary source. We do not publish opaque advertising disguised as analysis.

Use of AI

Part of routine work (drafts, translations, cover images) uses AI tooling. All materials are reviewed by a human editor before publication. See the "AI disclosure" page for details.
